Save the World Adventure Race Cancelled
Greg Yetter / 18.01.2008
The race directors announced on January 16, 2008 that the Save the World Adventure Race will not be held in 2008. This cancellation effects both divisions. One of the race directors has received his notification of being called to active duty in our nations military for deployment to Iraq.In the message the race directors alluded to the possibility that the race may not ever return. During the six years the race was held, it raised nearly $25,000. This money supported five international wheelchair distributions where over 2000 wheelchairs where given to those in need. Racers during the six years donated over 4000 cans of food to the McCormick County Food Bank in South Carolina, home to the race venue.
The Save the World organization will continue in its mission to provide humanitarian aide to those in need. With the loss of the Adventure Race your help is needed even more. Please visit their website to see how you can help.
