Manly Wharf, Bridge to Manly
Steve Cooper - SleepMonsters Aus / 10.02.2008
Attracting a class field of paddlers and swimmers this event is well entrenched on the racing calendar for many.Outside of the Hawkesbury Classic, The Murray Marathon and the Avon Descent it has to be the biggest mass paddle event of its kind, although only a meagre sprint in comparison to the other events. Nonetheless a great excuse to have a paddle or a swim in an australian jewel (its getting there), starting under an icon.
The paddle will take you past Kirribilli House, now possibly the most expensive rental intown, you will leave the Opera House behind with the city skyline and head towards The Zoo, you will pass Fort Denison, in its day the cheapest rent in town, courtesy of Her Majesty, past Garden Island. Keep your eyes peeled on the left, in Mosman Bay you may be able to spot one of the more expensive water toys moored, (rumoured around $9M). Not until you round Middle Head will your goal be visible, turn left here and you will find yourself in Middle Harbour and heading for Balmoral. So straight ahead and to Manly Wharf. Food and Beverages await.
