Winning Fix Team Goes To Primal Quest Montana
Press Release / 16.02.2008
Odyssey is proud to join Primal Quest Montana as a Gold Partner, guaranteeing a slot in Montana for the winning team of the Endorphin Fix 3 Day Adventure Race this upcoming April in West Virginia, U.S.A.In April of 2007, PQ Montana course director, Chris Caul, completed the Odyssey E-FIX 2 Day AR as a soloist on a single speed mountain bike – no small feat. “The course Joy designed last season was the most challenging, most rewarding, and most beautiful AR course I’ve raced yet. I can’t imagine a better event in the eastern U.S. with which to test one’s mettle and shear fortitude.â€
“The FIX has continued to grow its reputation as the toughest 2 day AR in the U.S. since the sale of Odyssey to Ronny Angell. The addition of a 3rd day in beautiful WV terrain ensures that the FIX will prove to be the perfect training ground for teams headed to expedition length ARs like PQ,†said Don Mann, co-founder of OAR and director of PQ08. “We are thrilled to have Odyssey AR join the Primal Quest family as a gold partner. Ronny, Joy, and the rest of the Odyssey family have continued the standard of excellence that was set forth in the birth of the company 10 years ago.â€
As co-founder of OAR and course designer, Joy Marr’s ability to raise the bar each season while maintaining the achievability of the course exemplifies her reputation as one of the best AR course designers in the country, as well as a respected veteran of the AR community. When asked how she’s approached the design of this 17th edition of the FIX, Joy shared, “We seek to find the very best and most memorable aspects of an area and to showcase each of these within the course. It must fall within the racer’s expectations of the word ‘adventure’.â€
Over the 200+ mile course, racers will become intimately acquainted with the rugged, yet scenic terrain of West Virginia. Supported soloists and teams will whitewater raft and swim in class II and III rapids, rappel and ascend towering rock walls, orienteer though lush forest vegetation, and mountain bike and trek their way through what promises to be an epically rewarding adventure race experience.
