The weekend focuses on providing aspiring adventure athletes the necessary outdoor skills and knowledge required to complete your first adventure race or take you to the next level of competitiveness.Taught by instructors who are accomplished adventure racers and experts in various disciplines providing participants with the opportunity to improve their competencies in the areas of navigation, paddling, rope-work and mountain bike orienteering plus exposure to expert tips and know-how that will enhance your ability to excel in each discipline and is guaranteed to help you reach the finish line faster.
Four hours drive south of Perth Albany’s mellow buzz puts you in kick-back mode and gets top billing as an outdoor adventure paradise. Chosen for its spectacular landscapes and challenging off-road attributes Albany and the Great Southern Region plays host to the inaugural Mountain Designs Great Southern Adventure Race in September with two full days of competition covering a memorable 250km course. With an ideal mix of terrain, activity and fun the ARC is the perfect launchpad to adventure racing for prospective competitors and helps bridge the gap for AR newbie’s from something once unthinkable to a fait accompli.
Open to all but geared towards Great Southern teams who want to turn their skills up a notch, rub shoulders with their rivals and bank some valuable team bonding time. Load up the battleship with all the go-fast gear, a positive attitude and a willingness to have lots of fun! Because the real action begins where the pavement ends.
