NEWTON 24 & 8 Hours of Triathlon presented by Suzuki

The world's only 24 Hours of Triathlon concluded today to an enthusiastic crowd of onlookers. Athlete's braved a variety of weather conditions to complete repeated laps of swimming, biking and running throughout the day and night. The one tenth Iron Distance format (0.24 mile swim/11.2 mile bike/2.6 mile run) catered to professional and recreational competitors and highlighted the two Pro for a Day athletes, Kendra Lee and Milan Klanjsek.Team Retul (Lars Finanger, Boulder, CO; Steve Wait, Boulder, CO / Australia; John Gaudette, Denver, CO) set a new overall 24 hour World Record of 365.28 miles and Kassiana Rosso (Dorad, FL) was the fastest women's solo competitor with a new World Record distance of 236.08 miles. Five additional world records were set across both the 8 hour and 24 hour triathlon and duathlon races.

* 8 hour triathlon team relay - 122.04 miles (Chris & Joanna McIntyre, Colorado Springs, CO)

Milan and Kendra were the Pro for a Day recipients, a prize awarded by event management and supported by the race sponsors.
