Open Adventure’s first C2C event
Open Adventure Press Release / 02.12.2008
2009 sees the first Open Coast to Coast Adventure Race starting and finishing in the shadow of Alfred Wainrights classic route across the North of England. The event will be a four day stage event so competitors will have a chance to catch up on sleep at the end of each day. Kayaking, MTB’ing and Running stages will be included in each day’s activities, crossing some of the most amazing scenery this country has to offer. The event is for solos and mixed teams of three. For teams of three only two of the competitors are competing on each stage, making the Open Coast to Coast event achievable for many of the one-day Adventure Racers that compete in the UK. A support vehicle and person is also required for this classic route.
For James Thurlow, this is a bit of a dream come true - "I looked at running this event before Open Adventure came in to being so five years later its great to see this vision of a great event get off the ground. I'm also keen for friends and family to get involved so competitor online tracking was a must when creating the event and we will be trialing a number of tracking units in the coming months."
The date of the event is 28th - 31st August 2009. For more details visit the revised Open Adventure website at www.openadventure.com
