The North Face 100 back in 2009
Press Release / 18.12.2008
Although set in the picturesque World Heritage Blue Mountains, the unmerciful course in 08 which dealt competitors a gruelling 100km run over varied and unforgiving terrain (with an elevation gain half the height of Mount Everest), is back in 09 goading everyone and anyone who thinks they can withstand a race that saw competitors withdraw from crippling conditions and hypothermia!Attracting competitors from around the globe in its first season and with four times the number of entrants for a race of this kind, ‘the pinnacle of trail runs’ in Australia is set for 16-17 May 2009. And there’s a whisper that one of the world’s running’s greats might even join us!
The breathtaking Blue Mountains will entice competitors back to where it all began, with minimal course changes. Starting and finishing in Leura the fantastic views will momentarily distract runners from their sometimes agonising efforts, with scenery such as the Jamison, Kedumba and Megalong Valleys. Participants will also be privied to spectacular views over Narrowneck, the famous Three Sisters rock formation, the ominous Golden Staircase, the Leura Forest and scenic Wentworth Falls.
