An active way to spend Valentine’s Day

What if the best place to declare your love was out in the bush amongst ageless gum trees and birds harmoniously chirping away (except if they are crows or cockatoos!)?The second and final Canberra event of the Paddy Pallin Adventure Race Series is set for Saturday 14 February 2009, Valentine’s Day. This is a great way to share some very special time with your loved one, outdoors and enjoying the warm summer weather!
As an added bonus, it is also be a great way to get back into shape after some of the Silly Season’s excesses, a point which doesn’t necessarily have to be shared with a prospective date for fear of hurting their feelings…
Options for course routes around Canberra are endless. For this event Canberra’s well-known orienteer, Dave Meyer and AROC’s Alina McMaster have come up with exciting new terrain for participants to explore and enjoy. The secret course will take teams orienteering through open bush, mountain biking on single tracks and paddling on flat water. No need to be an expert to take part, it’s all about the experience and giving it go! Adventure Racing virgins can get their feet wet with the Novice Course (at half the Classic Course’s distance) so they are still feeling fresh at the finish and ready for a post-shower romantic get together! There will be prizes for the best Valentine’s fancy costumes and for love bird couples!
Business is tough out there, but the battle could be even fiercer on the field! A Corporate Category is available especially for corporate teams entered into the Novice Course who wish to take on their colleagues or competitors, or show their bosses what they are made of! Time to get your work mates organised and training!
