Adventure Paddle

SleepMonsters Aus / 27.01.2009
The course although starting at the same point as last time, does have a few changes.

Course setter Steve Cooper said \"There are only so many hills you can give peoples leg a stretch on\".
Keeping in mind its a paddling orientated event Steve is likely to have competitors in their kayaks for a good 70 to 8o% of the time.

Being Steves\' home turf, he has had as much fun setting this as Matt Blundell did at Narrabeen, and as Matt won\'t be privvy to any details he may even return to defend his title.

For those people not having their own craft it is the perfect chance to use the supplied craft and as they have their own class you won\'t have to worry about being run down by the sleeker racing craft who will have their own class.

What we can say is the course will cover 30+ kms of foreshore with plenty of nooks and crannies to put checkpoints into, the course is surrounded by Georges River National Park and up till approx 20yrs ago the river was a major producer of oysters, remnants of these leases can be seen in several areas approaching the confluence of the Georges and Woronora River. In its very early days the rivers environs were a major producer of lime for the booming settlement of Sydney, you may or may not see evidence of this, now the river is a major recreational enviroment.

Entries are still being taken and with over $3000 worth of prizes it should be a good day out. For details click HERE.
