Heather and Erica Go MOMAR

My birthday present to girlfriend Heather was a getaway weekend for two - nope, no fluffy spa weekend.

The gift turned out to be a trip to the MOMAR Squamish Race this past weekend. I had some foresight and thought it might be best if Heather raced with one of her girlfriends (less about me kind of thing). So it was all about Heather and Erica entering their very first adventure race.

Leading up to the race, the ladies focused less and less on the gear and training and more and more on the rappel. With one week to go, all our attempts at getting out for a rappel were thwarted by rain showers. There was a bit of a rising panic as much was being made of the upcoming rappelling section by MOMAR updates.

They ended up joining the ropes clinic on the Friday before the race and learned all they had to in order to confidentially take on the ropes section.

The night before leaving town, Heather and Erica quietly reminded me that I had some SleepMonsters.ca jerseys that would be a great addition to their gear. So this new, fully sponsored team had already accomplished what I had not in a 13-year racing addiction.
