News of ARWC 2010 from the Race Director
Antonio de la Rosa / 18.12.2009
Close to the end of 2009, the organisers of the Adventure Race World Championship 2010 are busy planning for the race at the end of September in Castilla y León, Spain. Race Director Antonio de la Rosa has this message for teams looking to take part:“We are organizing the best possible event and are sure that we will be able to fulfil the expectations that have of us.
The competition will go through three provinces of Castilla y León - Ãvila, Salamanca and Zamora - where some of the most beautiful places of the Iberian Peninsula are located: valleys, mountains, rivers and lakes in a very varied geography, which will surprise you.
The best time to carry out an adventure race of this magnitude in Spain is October; since the autumn has just begun, and the temperature is not too hot as in summer, or too cold as in the winter months.
As you may know I have been devoting myself to the world of adventure raids since 1996 and have taken part in almost all the important competitions around the world, and I am going to extract the best of each one to organize this 2010 world championship.
The organization will do its best in order to achieve just and fair results and without any influence from external factors, or resulting from better or worse support of the different teams.
In order to do so, and in spite the fact that inscriptions with and without assistance of the organization are allowed, our main effort will be directed not only to organize the most important adventure competition of 2010, but also to provide equal opportunities to all the teams.
Assistance will be provided with boxes or cans of 150 and 220 liters, depending of the discipline, delivered by the organization, with safety closing, in such a way that they could not be opened or manipulated by the teams that bring their own assistance. Only the organization staff will be able to open them in the assistance points and in the transitions.
In addition, the transport of bicycles during the competition will be carried out by the organization for all the teams. This is to avoid a situation where bikes belonging to assisted teams can be manipulated or improved, and so that the teams assisted by the organization are not disadvantaged.
