Dark & White 2010 Schedule

Peak District based company Dark and White Challenge Events are planning a big schedule of races for the year ahead, with a mixture of mountain biking, mountain marathons, and the continuation of their one-day adventure race series.

Adventure Racing 2010

Cotswold Outdoor have agreed to become the principle prize sponsor for the 2010 series of DW4 Adventure Races. With additional class and spot prizes coming from Skins, Buff and others, plus some creative thinking on course planning and design, the 2010 races are set to not only put the spark back into adventure racing but also to continue to challenge the minds and bodies of adventure racers of all abilities.

For 2010 there will be a three event league of 4 hour events, in and around the Peak District, the dates being 14th March (Edale/Dark Peak); 9th May (Derbyshire Peaks) and 4th July (from the Cliffhanger Show, Sheffield). There will also be a stand-alone 8 hour race on the weekend of 9th/10th October in Northern England (venue/area tbc shortly) and there will be a shorter 4 hour option on this event. Mountain Biking

The 2009/2010 Winter Trailquest series is already three events old and the updated league table is on the website . The first event of 2010 was due to be held from Grindleford on Jan. 10th but was unfortunately a casualty of the weather and has been provisionally rescheduled to April 11th. The next event is from Holmebrook Valley Park near Chesterfield on the 31st January. These events last 3 hours and cost from £12 for a solo entry.

The 2010 Dark & White MTB Enduro series dates have been confirmed as Sunday 25th April (Cannock Chase, Staffs) and Sunday 31st October (Sherwood Pines/Notts Forests). These will be 4 hour (with a shorter 2 hour option) 100% off-road forest based events using a variety of challenging singletrack, tracks and trails; the object of the event is to navigate and ride as many laps of the set course as possible within the overall time limit. Entry costs from £10 for the 2 hour event and £15 for the 4 hour event.

Fell Running/Mountain Marathons

Dates for the Rab Mountain Marathon have been confirmed as 25th/26th September with a venue in the North of England and entry fee from £40 per person. The final round of the Peak District 2009/2010 mini-mountain marathon series in the Macclesfield Forest area takes place on Sunday Jan 17th and is already full, although there may be a few entries on the day available and anyone interested should contact the organisers.

There is also a mini-mountain marathon announced for November 14th later in the year, and those looking for a longer endurance run can also find information about the Long Tour of Bradwell (31 miles/6300') on August 8th and the 12th Hope Moors & Tors (8.5 or 20 miles in the Dark Peak) on October 3rd.
