Dreyer's Dream Team back at Dusi
Press Release / 23.01.2010
Martin Dreyer’s ‘Change a Life’ Development Squad, sponsored by COMPUTERSHARE, last year claimed two TOP 10 and seven TOP 20 positions at the Hansa Powerade Dusi Canoe Marathon. This earmarked his project as one of the most successful exercises ever in SA paddling development. The big question everyone is asking is whether these young athletes from CHANGE A LIFE will once again make history this year. Can the duo of Eric Zondi (9th position) and Lucas Mthalane (10th position) with their new paddling partners again claim Gold Medals and, with more experience behind them, take on SA’s top paddlers to move into the Top Three? Eric and Lucas have teamed up with Thomas Ngidi and John Ngcobo respectively.
According to Dreyer, his charges are determined to equal or improve their performance in 2010. “Seven CHANGE A LIFE paddlers claimed a coveted TOP 20 spot last year and, in addition, Kwanda Mhlope (18th position) took line honours in the Under-18 Division. Mmeli Cele also emerged victoriously in the Under-16 Category.
With less than two weeks to go to Dusi 2010, the South African paddling community are waiting with baited breath to watch this tale of true grit unfold in the Umsindusi valley.
