ACE Races to Green Belters
Rob Howard / 04.02.2010
ACE Races, the longest established event in UK racing, has changed its name and format, but the races do continue from 2010 onwards, under the new title of the RAT RACE GREEN BELTERS.ACE Races are run by Detail Events, the company behind the successful Rat Races (and many other events) and they have spiced up the format and introduced even more value for the race entry fee.
New to the mix are obstacles, kayaking and they promise there will be some great goodies thrown in as well. For 2010 there are 3 locations, 2 ACE Race favourites at Swinley and Pippingford forests and a brand new setting in the Hambleden Estate in Bucks (also the venue for the new Horseplay adventure run in March).
The organisers are also introducing “The Green Machineâ€, a mighty assault course that will pit you against a series of challenging obstacles immediately before the finish line, to the cheers (and possible laughter) of fellow team mates and supporters. Jim Mee of Detail Events commented, “We’ve listened to a lot of feedback on ACE Races and made these subtle changes by popular demand. We’ve also eased up on the navigational elements, to allow a much more “accessible†event to be enjoyed by larger numbers, whether you are racing at the sharp end or stepping out for your first adventure race.
“The result of all of this is the Rat Race Green Belter Series 2010 - adventures on your doorstep in the Home Counties, all within an hour and a bit of central London. Our venues feature pristine countryside, fresh air and a Belter of a multi-sport adventure laid on by the ever-innovative Rat Race events crew, featuring a mix of biking, running, a wee splash in our kayaks and our trademark mighty "Green Machine" obstacle course thrown in for good measure.â€
The events will last up to 4 hours (depending on pace!) on way marked courses and they all take place on Saturdays and feature free parking the bargain-laden Rat Race Store.
The races are open to solos or pairs, with everyone getting £50 worth of gear and rewards within their entry, including the special edition Rat Race technical T-Shirt. Entries are open now with Early Bird pricing at £40 per head if you sign up by the end of Feb.
