Entries to re-open Monday 22 March

Wow - what a response! We dealt some punishment out to our new online entry system this morning. The system that handles the Sydney City2Surf and its 76,000 entries couldnâ€™t cope with the overwhelming demand from the mountain bike community for some Capital Punishment! Now that is impressive.

We do apologise and know that many of you re-scheduled your life so as to be at the computer ready to enter.

To make it fair for everyone and enable people to organise themselves again, we will now re-open entries at 9am next MONDAY 22nd MARCH 2010. To avoid further server crashes, entries to Capital Punishment will now be done through a pre-registration system. To pre-enter, you will be required to provide your first name, last name, date of birth and email address on a pre-entry form. Pre-entries are recorded on a time basis so those first in are first served. Once pre-entered, you will be contacted via the email address you provided (so make sure this is correct!) and given a link through which to complete your entry and make payment. If you are successful in your pre-registration and are offered to complete your entry you will have until 8am on Tuesday 23 March to do this. After this time your entry will be offered to the next pre-registered person that missed the initial offer.

So mark your diaries now: Pre-registration will open at 9am Monday 22nd March 2010.
