Their expedition to visit Borneo to see Orangutans, in both their natural habitat and rehabilitation centres, is once again taking place this coming May 2010, and as usual their plans are a little more substantial than just visiting the area and taking photos. They have set themrselves some very lofty objectives that will, they trust, ultimately turn this expedition into a truly beneficial & most rewarding accomplishment.

Please visit the Australian Orangutan Project (AOP) website here for all the details of this fantastic organisation & the incredible work they are doing <a href="#"onClick="javascript:newsitewindow('http://www.orangutan.org.au')"class="main">here</a>

The expedition will include a number of special events.

Among these will be:

• The main objective, of course, will be to raise somewhere up to $15,000 towards helping with the Orangutans survival. They are hoping to reach or exceed their targets for 100 adoptions & 10,000 hectares of Rainforest sponsorship before they leave.

• Recording their adventure on Video to compile a record to show everyone that helped them on our return.

• Spending one night camped out in the jungle to experience the real ‘Borneo’. This is a rare opportunity seldom offered to visitors.

• Taking supplies of school needs (books, pencils, sports items) and souvenirs to distribute at the local schools in the Kumai area.

• Experiencing the Orangutans in their natural environment as well as in the rehabilitation centres plus the very special opportunity to see some of the infants they have adopted in the orphanage in Pangkalan Bun.
