Press release / 05.05.2010
The North Face athlete Sebastien Chaigneau achieved 3rd position at the inaugural The North Face Endurance Challenge Argentina on April 17th, 2010. This was the first edition of the world-renowned The North Face Endurance Challenge in Argentinia. After a tough 80km race over technical mountain terrain, Sebastien's success was well deserved.

The race took place in San Martin de los Andes, and was the first mountain ultramarathon to be held in Argentina. With distances of 10km, 21km, 50km and 80km the race presents a challenge for everyone - from the more inexperienced to the expert. The routes varied from undulating marked trails and woodland paths to technical mountain terrain requiring high-level physical and mental fitness. As Clara Gil, of The North Face Argentina, says, "Endurance racing, and endurance running is a sport that spans the globe. We are a growing community and inspire healthy competition, encouraging our peers to go beyond what they ever thought possible. Running in some of the most stunning landscapes in the world is always a terrific experience."

The 'mother' competition is The North Face Endurance Challenge consisting of four regional races and a national championship in the United States. The 'sister' races include some of the toughest endurance challenges in the world including The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc (Europe), The North Face Canadian Death Race (Canada), The North Face 100 (China) and The North Face Ultra Marathon of the Andes (South America). These races bring together some of the most respected endurance athletes in the world.

The North Face athlete Sebastien Chaigneau has found his strength in 'ultra-races' and has achieved great successes. His performance in Argentina only continues his journey of 'endurance'. From an early age Sebastien heard the call of the mountains, and he looked for the limits of the far horizon. Even as a child it was the wild expanses and the nature, which were the world that inspired him and captivated his attention. Bringing together his passions for the outdoors and for athletics eventually led Sebastien to the joys of trail running. This was to become his big love. Balancing work and home life with an admirable running career, Sebastien's passions are part of his life, and he takes every opportunity to explore them ...

REYES, GUSTAVO, 06:33:26
