With the rapid growth of Adventure Racing in Australia it was only a matter of time before the NT embraced this contagious sport, the NT hasn’t been without endurance events, home to the Katherine Ultra Challenge for many years and more recently the “Racing the Planet” series hit the top end.

Now the NT has its own AR, spawned out of 1 individuals enthusiasm the first event will take place in early july, Jack Pennington has some grand ambitions for the sport coming from a triathlon background Jack found AR back in about 2005 and used it to help himself training for the local Tri Circuit and has been hooked since, one of his goals would be to see the sport included in the Arafura Games.

As with any sport in its infancy Jack is constantly getting quizzed and having to enlighten people as to what is involved and if his enthusiasm is anything to go by the event should do well, another of Jacks goals in the NT is that the platform of Adventure Racing ‘A Team Sport’ enables the community to harness the social aspects of the sport and will encourage more people to achieve their goals. And most of all allows teams to have fun while participating in a healthy and safe atmosphere.

As mentioned the first event will take place in early July the perfect time for the southern states to escape the cold, and why not make a decent break out of it while you are their and see what else the NT has to offer.
