Explore Sweden is going to be a true adventure – expedition style. Similar to 2009, Explore Sweden Monster 2010 will be a long adventure course covering a distance of 950 km. The winning team will cross the finish line after almost 5 days and nights of non-stop racing, having had the unique opportunity to race in 24 hours daylight above the Arctic Circle. The race will start at the fantastic coastal area of Norway in Lofoten and then take the racers through Norway and Sweden to the final destination in Piteå on the Swedish Baltic Coast – Atlantic to Baltic; â€Coast to Coast.â€
The amazing course will push all participants to their limit. Each section has been designed to fit the unique terrain and nature and will give racers fantastic experiences and memories.
At this moment race director and course designer Mikael Lindnord is in Lofoten and is reporting that the course will be amazing. During this week Mikael with team will test the entire course and set the final race course. Stay tune for the newest updates from the course.
Teams have now started to sign up for the race, and Explore Sweden will have some really strong topteams on the startline. The former AR World Champions from New Zeeland, Team Orion, and strong Swedish teams include Silva Gerber (former Lundhags adventure) and FJS. "We are aiming to have about 20-25 teams on the start line" says Helena Lindnord. "Many teams are now signing up and are in the loop."
ADTA Awards
Just as last year, Explore Sweden is proud to cooperate with ADTA Awards and Abu-Dhabi Adventure race. This cooperation means that the highest placed Scandinavian team who has never raced outside Scandinavia (where one member is allowed to have raced internationally) will get the special prize of a free entry and travel expenses to the great and well organised Abu-Dhabi Adventure in December 2010.
The first team to win this prize was Sweco Karlstad Multisport in 2008 and then FK Herkules in 2009. These teams got a great adventure.
2117 of Sweden will be Explore Sweden 2010's official clothing brand which means all volunteers will be sporting their great gear. Check out the company's line at: www.2117.se
