A Busy Weekend

It was busy weekend all round with Questars holding their 8th race of the year, Endurance Life running two races and the new Saab Salomon Hellrunner taking place as well.

Endurancelife were based at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor which had ideal facilities for their ‘classic’ multisport format (4.5 mile kayak, 12 mile run, 20 mile bike) which took place on Sunday. They also held a ‘Lite’ version (2 mile kayak, 6 mile run, 10 mile bike) on Saturday for those wanting to get started in multisport, and though there was no rain there was plenty of mud! It was a weekend when kiwis ruled, with triathlete Mark Green winning the ‘Classic’ and Silas Cullen winning the ‘Lite’.

Questars were based at The Lookout on the edge of Swinley Forest, near Bracknell, for their race on Saturday. Nearly 100 competitors set off in a mass start at 10.00am on a course that criss-crossed the forest, and included paddling on Horseshoe Lake in 5 stages. Some heavy afternoon rain fell, but it didn’t slow down the winner Liam Corner, who has now won the series for 2004.

And on the following day, and not too far away, at Weavers Down in Hampshire, the Hellrunner race attracted over 850 competitors for ’10 miles of adventure running’ which included the \'Wetlands\' and the \'Hills of Hell\'. Nick Sharpe won ahead of Pete James and Jayne Lloyd won the womens race. Not a bad result for the Saab Salomon squad, as Nick and Jayne have both raced with them.
