Energizer Night Relay rocks at Teak Place, Jhb

Nedbank dominated the results of the trail run relay, taking honours across the board. The Nedbank Men's team of Tshamano Setone, Xolisa Tyali, Kgosi Tsotsane and Juan van Deventer crossed the line in a fast one hour, sixteen minutes and 3 seconds clocking the fastest lap split over the 5km route of 16min.40sec. Second team home in the men's category was Energizer Discovery followed by Stanlib. The mixed team's proved to be a force to be reckoned with as the Nedbank Mixed Team comprising Enock Mayandi, Lucky Miya, Poopy Mlambo and Donald Mathipa placed second overall to win the mixed category just two seconds behind the winners. Adventure Racing combo The Metaphysical Tri Geeks showed team strength to place third overall and second mixed team. Third place went to Nedbank RC GN1.In the women's teams, the Nedbank Ladies (Christine Kalmer, Rene Kalmer, Annerien van Schalkwyk and Marelise Retief) were in a class of their own claiming the victory in one hour, thirty minutes and 55 seconds. St Mary's DSG Pretoria placed second ahead of the Crazy Daisies.
The mountain bike relay comprised three laps of a 10km route with rider A completing the first lap, rider B the second lap and then both riders doing the final third lap together. Team Garmin-Adidas pro-riders Phillip Buys and Francois Theron made light work of taking the win in a time of one hour, nineteen minutes and 59 seconds. Moonlight Bump & Grind placed second ahead of the Specialized Boys in third. Team Meridamad were the winners of the Mixed category while Urban Escape won the women's category.
While the competition was out in full force, the entertainment measured up equally. The evening was interspersed by the amazing talent of beat boxer George 'Georgeous' Avakian, SA's talented beat boxer, displays from light throwers, a live feed big screen from the action out on the course and lighting and sound to get the crowd hyped. An ideal team building evening was enjoyed by supporting corporates Jeep Apparel, Nedbank, Time Freight, Husqvarna and Chrysler Jeep Dodge who shared an evening of fun and action alongside title sponsor Energizer.
