OMM Sales Director Called to Afghanistan

Major Matt Williams, Sales Director for the Ark Group, owners of the OMM brand and event, has been recalled to serve with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan.“Matt joined Ark Group in January 2008 following a career within the Royal Marines, which included operational tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. He lives in Exeter and has two children, Kieran 10 and Emily 7. Matt started in the outdoor industry at the age of 4 pairing up socks after a trade show when his father Andy Williams was Sales Manager for Caravan. As well as Sales Director for the Ark Group he also looks after retailers in the South West.
The move from the military has been a significant change for him but the skills, contacts and experiences he gained whilst in the Marines have quickly enabled him to make a significant contribution to the business and gain a lot of friends in the industry. He has been recalled to the Royal Marines for deployment in March 2011 for 6 months where he will be advising senior officers working with the Afghan Army.
Tom Williams MD and Matt's brother says" it is a big sacrifice for the business to release him back into the Marines and it is also a worry for the family to have him away. We will be pleased when he is back home safe and sound.â€
