Team Accelerate Adventure Racing Appoint Typhoon Media Consultancy
Press Release / 26.01.2011
Creative Media Consultancy may on the first hand appear to be the last thing an Adventure Racing team needs. Yet with the growing and increasing power and awareness of Social Media (Face Book and Twitter), plus developments in how websites are used and seen, Team Accelerate have taken the bold step of appointing a branding and media company, Typhoon, to aid them. The whole process of developing the presence of the Team both online and traditionally came about in response to talks to both existing and potential Team Partners. With global companies like New Balance and SKINS onside with the Team it was seen as a way forward in that the Team could give back and say thank you for support both received and to be received.
Neil Evans, Creative Director of Typhoon said, “For modern day sports teams in fringe activities like adventure racing it is important that they justify the high level of support they require and find ways they can give back, that are both fun and informative. Especially whilst they are in their formative years and gaining a measure of experience to race at the highest levelâ€.
Following a review of the requirements of the Team’s lead Partners a Media Proposal was put together for the Team, which was presented to the athletes at their annual Team Meeting last November. With Targets agreed and the ideas accepted, Typhoon set to work.
All the athletes felt an update to the Team logo was required to better represent the Team’s racing plans around Europe and further afield, plus everyone’s British background. The new logo has now been unveiled and is effective in its simplicity and message.
Both Typhoon and Team Accelerate continue to work on a number of other projects including the launch of a new Team website at the end of this month.
All of this coincides with Team Accelerate confirming their entry to APEX Switzerland, this coming May. Part of the World Series the Team will again be combining experience with youth, as they did so successfully at Terrex, to further develop and progress from within. Alasdair Bruce, Team Captain, will be joined by John Cunningham, and summer signings Lucy Harris and Stuart Walker. The first of many meetings for the four has already taken place and training weekends booked. The only debate that remains is who will take on the challenge of paragliding?
A second trip abroad is also being planned by Team Accelerate, which with the announcement that Raid France will be the World Series Final in 2012 is now a possibility alongside Sweden. Kev Honeysett has been asked to continue his successful captaincy and lead Caroline Bullard, her brother George and David Spence.
