Seagate and Nike ACG/Balance Bar – The Decider

It will be a series showdown when Seagate and Nike ACG/Balance Bar, currently tied for first place with 190 points each, meet at the Balance Bar 24-Hour Adventure Finale in Los Angeles over the weekend of November 20-21.
Southern California and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area will once again play host to the series finale.

Defending series champions, Nike ACG/Balance Bar took first place at this season’s 24-Hour Adventure at Beaver Creek, CO, with Team Seagate finishing in second place. Three months later in New York the tables turned. Team Seagate came across the line first, followed by Nike ACG/Balance Bar. The upcoming race will be the decider for which team takes home the series crown and a hefty prize purse. The winners will pocket $15,000 for the series prize and $10,000 for the race win.

Nike ACG/Balance Bar will race with Danelle Ballengee, Mike Kloser and Michael Tobin, while New Zealand’s Team Seagate will consist of Kristina Anglem, Nathan Fa’avae and Hayden Key.

The course is approximately 90-miles and will include mountain biking, kayaking, trekking, ropes, and land navigation, ensuring racers have access to some of the finest terrain the Santa Monica Mountains have to offer. The mountain biking leg will combine single track, fire roads and paved roads. Kayaking will once again take place on the Pacific Ocean, which always proves difficult and could be a deciding factor in this year’s race. The trekking portions of the event will feature classic Santa Monica Mountains terrain: trails, some cross-country sections, lots of elevation loss and gain, and sandstone peaks.

Event headquarters and the spectator festival will be at Lot 1150 on the Santa Monica Beach. The event will begin with check-in, gear checks and certifications on Friday, November 19. The race starts at an undisclosed location early in the morning on Saturday, November 20 and the first finishers are expected at event headquarters at approximately 5:30 pm on Saturday evening.
