New Events as Tri-Adventure Continues to Grow

Press Release / 10.05.2011
Following the launch of Tri-Adventure in 2010, 2011 has certainly started well, with three well attended races in the Spring series. The number of competitors is increasing from race to race and the competition is getting closer and harder throughout the leader board.

The ambition with Tri-Adventure was to create a race for everyone. Perfect for those dipping their toe into the sport. Two hours is a manageable amount of time to be exercising, bike hire is available on the day through our main sponsor ‘Singletrack School’ and the option to just do the trail run has enticed a large number of beginners along to our races. On the other end of the spectrum, the experienced and elite athletes have a huge task in order to successfully win the event. Faultless navigation at full throttle is the only way to win one of the events as our top competitors will testify.

February was cold and wet, March saw the numbers of competitors jump and the weather clear and April gave us a picture perfect day on the North Downs. Throughout the series a key number of racers fought it out for the top of the male leader board; Dave Rollins, Nick Gracie, Tom Davies, George Neville-Jones and James Owen.

The female solo category was being competed for by Liz Muir, Patricia Daas, Karen Jones, Helen Smith and Sophie Moore. Only two could be winners and many congratulations to Dave Rollins and Helen Smith who won the Series Prize. Will anybody be able to beat them in the autumn series, notable Dave Rollins, GB Orienteer and Coach who is currently unbeaten in the Tri-Adventure events he’s entered!

Many thanks must go to the Singletrack School who provided all of our competitors with a goodie bag at all of the Spring events and to Power the Machine who provided the series prizes.

Following on from 2010 and 2011’s successes Tri-Adventure is very much looking forward to the two new summer events. The Tri-Experience is being held on the 12 June 2011 in Swinley Forest. This will be planned by seasoned Adventure racer Mark Humphrey from team Addidas Terrex. Mark has won the Wenger Patagonian Expedition race three times in a row and has over 10 years of experience and many podium finishes under his belt. The event will combine trail running, mountain biking and navigation over 3.5 hours.

The Tri-Challenge will be held from Peaslake on the 10 July 2011, this being Tri-Adventures longest event at 5 hours, again combining trail running, mountain biking and navigation. The Tri-Challenge will be planned by the 2009 Adventure Racing World Champion Nick Gracie from Adidas Terrex and who recently competed and won in Patagonia with Mark.

Following on from the success of the spring series, Tri-Adventure will run an autumn series from Albury Cricket Club on the North Downs in September, October and November 2011.

And finally, Tri-Adventure are looking into building a small team of sponsored athletes later this year. If you think you would be a suitable candidate then please drop Jonathan an email at: jonathan@triadventure.co.uk.
