5 Race Point-Based Adventure Series Slated to Begin in June, 2005

A unified coalition of California-based race directors has announced the formation of a new 24hr race series set to begin in June of 2005.

The Explore California 24hr Adventure Racing Series will feature a total of five races during the 2005 season in diverse locations throughout the state: Lake Tahoe, Red Bluff, Gold Country, Santa Ana Range, culminating with the final race in Baja California, Mexico.

The series will focus on 24hr events with each venue designed to capitalize on the surrounding terrain. Teams of racers will be challenged at each event with approximately 200km of orienteering, running, mountain biking, kayaking, mountaineering, and other race-specific outdoor disciplines. An overall point series will enable teams to compete for cash and prizes at each event and for the overall series championship.

General dates and locations for the 2005 Explore California 24hr Adventure Racing Series consist of:

Lake Tahoe - June \'05
Santa Ana Range - August \'05
Red Bluff - September \'05
Gold Country - November \'05
Baja California (Mexico) - December \'05

Each event in the series will be unique and based on each race director\'s style and region-specific knowledge. The coalition includes the race directors from: Gold Rush Adventure Racing Series, Sierra Extreme Adventure Racing Series, Scout Adventure Challenge, Tehama Extreme, and West Coast Adventure Racing.
