The North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail 2011 Attracts Top Athletes

The North Face have announced the participation of their performance team members Sebastien Chaigneau (FRA), Zigor Iturrieta (ESP) and Fernanda Maciel (BRA) at the 5th edition of The North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail, July 1st- 2nd- 3rd 2011, in Auronzo di Cadore, in the Dolomites, Italy.

Starting at midnight, between Friday July 1st and Saturday July 2nd 2011, up to 600 highly trained ultra-runners from 20 countries will take part in on a 90km trail at the heart of the Italian Dolomites. With an accumulated positive height gain of 5,300m, the course takes runners to the foot of the outstandingly beautiful Tre Cime peaks at sunrise, and past three of the Dolomites’ most famous lakes.

Ultra-runner Zigor Iturrieta, fresh from his celebratory win on home turf at The North Face Transgrancanaria in Gran Canaria, March 2011, will be joined by fellow French team mate Sebastien Chaigneau, the face of The North Face Get Ready For online training series. Brazilian female ultra runner, Fernanda Maciel, will hope to add a strong result to a successful season so far.

This year’s edition also includes a two-person relay of up to 150 teams, sharing 45km of run each. Spots are still available on the two-person relay. The race is a qualifying course for The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) 2012.
