Questars Look Ahead to 2005

Rob Howard / 22.11.2004
Questars are currently getting ready for their last race of the season and looking ahead to their 2005 programme.

The final race in 2004 takes place on Nov. 27th on the South Downs, with the race HQ at Alfriston, a venue used very successfully last year. Questars promise the course will present the stronger, experienced & more competitive participants with an excellent challenge whilst also catering for the beginners. The vast majority of the mountain biking will be off-road on well drained chalk upland, with some fast grass down hill sections. The course will also take competitors down to the sea and along the cliffs, so if the weather is good there will be some fantastic views.

Due to the shorter days at this time of year the race will start at 09.30, with the race briefing at 09.15 and registration at 08.15. It will be a 5 hour course for both Masters and Novices, but unlike previous races in the series competitors will complete the running stage first followed by the biking.

The race will decide the series prizes for the year. There is a £100 prize for the series winners in each category, plus £400 for the overall series winners, £200 for second place and £100 for third place. The current overall leaders are the mixed team ‘2x2’ who are 395 points ahead of ‘The Lost Boys’, who are leading the Male category.

Questars have also announced their dates for 2005 and as they are concentrating more on team development, training and event management it is a smaller programme of 4 races. These will have both a 2 stage option (run and mtb), and a 3 stage option which will include canoeing.

Full details will be announced in the new year but the dates and venues will be:

April 23rd – Welsh Borders
July 9th – Midlands
August 13th – South Coast
October 8th – Thames Valley
