Trailplus Adventure Challenge 2011/12 – New Dates, New Sponsors

News Release / 05.07.2011
The forthcoming 2011-12 TrailPlus Adventure Challenge Series will see some participants journeying in extra comfort with the news that leading outdoor brands, Sea To Summit and Bridgedale are to supply extensive prize awards across the 4-event series.

Commenting on the new partnership, Giles Polito, Brand Director for Sea To Summit and Bridgedale, said: “We are very excited to be associated with such a popular series as the Trailplus and have the opportunity to provide prizes for all 4 events. Both Bridgedale and Sea to Summit offer a wide range of market leading products which are ideal for these competitors.”

TrailPlus Series Director Paul Magner, added: “There has always been a hugely competitive element at the sharp end of our events and we can ensure the top performers will be handsomely rewarded with a range of high-performance, prize products from the two brands”.

The 2011- 12 Series kicks off on October 16th with Surrey’s “Camberley Caper- An Awesome Autumn Adventure” and culminates next March with the hugely popular “Cumbrian Commotion” event which, earlier this year, attracted a huge field of 1000 competitors to the Grizedale Forest venue.
The Challenge
Each event requires a team of three to stay together at all times whilst completing a marked journey comprising 10km of trail running, 20km+ of mountain biking and a short blast of kayak canoeing.

The exact activity sequence varies from venue to venue and is not revealed to the competitors until the morning of the event. Additional challenges are added for good measure and the challenge journey ends with TrailPlus’ signature “Slippery Wall”.

Sea to Summit

Named after Tim Macartney-Snape's expedition from the Bay of Bengal to the summit of Everest, Sea to Summit, founded by Tim and fellow climber Roland Tyson, have been providing innovative, lightweight outdoor equipment for over 20 years.

In the spring of 1990 Tim had a swim in the tepid waters of India's Bay of Bengal then set off on foot across the Gangetic plain toward the distant Himalayan foothills. Four months later, after climbing alone from Base Camp and without the assistance of oxygen, he set foot once again on the highest point on earth. Tim's solo ascent of Mt. Everest was named the "Sea to Summit" expedition.

Back in Australia, Tim joined forces with climbing friend, sewing enthusiast and design guru Roland Tyson to build a business that could make use of their knowledge of the outdoors to create truly ingenious, well-made but affordable outdoor equipment. They named their company Sea to Summit after Tim's expedition and the business prospered.

Today the Sea to Summit brand continues to provide innovative, lightweight gear and serves a growing band of outdoor enthusiasts all over the world. For more information see www.seatosummit.com.
