Pirelli adds Italian team to support of Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge

Marco Ponteri (SleepMonsters Italian editor), 38, and Telemaco Murgia, 37, will cross the globe to compete in the five-day event, of which Pirelli is also an official sponsor and which will be held across some of Tasmania’s most stunning natural wilderness sites on December 7-11.The Pirelli teammates, both champion mountain bike, trail running and kayaking athletes, will demonstrate their competitive prowess against professional and amateur athletes from across the world.
Created by the Formula One driver in 2003, the Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge raises funds for the Mark Webber Foundation, which has donated more than one million Australian dollars for charities such as the Leukemia Foundation and Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal.
Following a two-year break, the 2011 event boasts Pirelli Tyres Australia as a one of a select group of corporate sponsors and will provide the most challenging and exciting course to date.
Competitors will experience dramatic climbs and abseiling at Freycinet Peninsula, paddling along the coastal cliffs and hidden bays of the Tasman Peninsula, running and mountain biking across the stunning forests of Bruny Island and Alpine terrain, a spectacular ropes course, a whitewater paddling leg and one of the longest stretches of downhill bike riding in the state.
