TotalSports XTERRA Buffelspoort promises endless action

Press Release / 14.12.2011
Calling all outdoor adventurers looking for excitement! Buffelspoort Dam in the North West Province is the place to be on Saturday, 28 January 2012. Join South Africa’s top multi-sport athletes when they test their skill at the annual TOTALSPORTS XTERRA presented by REHIDRAT® SPORT.

XTERRA Warriors can look forward to swimming in the pristine mountain waters of the Magaliesberg. The mountain bike route will include a diverse combination of quick and challenging single track, a rock garden, thick sand track, serious climbs up jeep track and a fun and winding single track descent through indigenous bushveld. Remember to enjoy the spectacular views. The XTERRA FULL mountain bike route has often been described as the most challenging of all the South African XTERRA editions due to the variance in terrain. Mud is always an influencing factor as well as the rocky trails higher up in the mountains and the purposely built single tracks and river crossings. The more technical sections are excluded from the XTERRA LITE route. The trail run section is a single 6.3km loop for the XTERRA LITE, while the XTERRA FULL will need to complete the same loop twice. The highlight of the run route is the weir crossing and Jacob’s ladder to the top of the dam wall as well as the river crossing for those hot days.

The XTERRA FULL includes a 1.5km swim, 27km MTB and a 12.6km trail run. The XTERRA LITE includes a 400m swim, 17km MTB and 6.3km trail run. Participants can enter individually or in teams of three.
