Tri-Adventure Expand Race Programme and Include MTBO

News Release / 23.12.2011
Adventure racing company Tri-Adventure, who host popular adventure races in the south east have expanded their portfolio to include navigational mountain biking (MTB0) events for the first time.

Jonathan Mayne, co-owner of Tri-Adventure along with his wife Samantha said; “Mountain Bike Orienteering is an incredibly exciting sport combining navigation, mountain biking skills, fitness, endurance and strategy. The courses are set to ensure that all abilities can have both an enjoyable and challenging time.”

The courses will be set around Swinley Forest and The New Forest and riders will have 3 hours to find as many checkpoints as they can. The maximum ride distance will be 45/50km so courses can test elite racers, and those who want to can team up into pairs or teams to race together. Entry fees will be £30 and there may be limited entry on the day (£5 extra). Event dates are June 17th and July 8th.

The Tri-Adventure adventure race programme this year has 8 events. There are 3 in Spring (Feb, March, April) and 3 in Autumn (Sept, Oct, Nov.) which offer the choice of the Sprint AR (2 hour run/ride/navigate) and a one hour navigational trail run (ideal for AR beginners). These cost £25 and £10 respectively.

The two summer events are longer and are held in conjunction with the MTBO events. On June 17th there is the Tri-experience race over 3.5 hours (£35 entry) and on July 8th the 5 hour Tri-Challenge race (£40 entry). There are discounts for series entry and for armed forces and emergency services entries. There are also cash and spot prizes on the day.
