Endurancelife Launch Aquatrail
News Release / 28.02.2012
Aquatrail is fast, furious, fun and completely new race format that is due to make a big splash in the UK this summer. Participants will be required to repeatedly alternate between running and swimming to cover a total distance of up to ten kilometres across land and liquid in what event organisers Endurancelife are billing as a “A rave run punctuated by smashing swims”.
This exciting new event format requires participants to take a plunge at up to ten separate swim sections. The total combined swim distance is around two kilometres, but the maximum distance of any single swim leg is only five hundred meters.
Aquatrail has been specifically designed to test speed, power, stamina, strength and agility. Endurancelife director Andrew Barker said: “We wanted to develop a pure racing format – one that challenges the upper and lower body equally and that completely removes the need for specialist equipment. In Aquatrail no amount of money spent on kit will make you faster. Performance is down to individual ability alone.” He adds “Triathlon has always been biased towards lower body performance. Aquatrail puts equal emphasis on swimming and running and really tests your core fitness.” The format is expected to attract adventurous individuals from a variety of different communities including triathletes, swimmers, runners, cross fitters, and adventure racers.
The launch event will be on the 5th May 2012 as part of the annual Endurancelife Festival which takes place in the incredible surroundings of the Flete Estate situated in a stunning coastal location on the South West coast near Plymouth. If this first event is well supported the event organisers Endurancelife plan to develop the Aquatrail concept into a national series.
