OMM Expands Internationally

News Release / 30.03.2012

OMM sales in the UK have been growing steadily in recent years and with the increasing interest in a healthy life-style and a desire for more physical challenges the Original Mountain Marathon has been growing with new events.

2012 has also seen OMM expanding with new sales agents in Germany, France, Benelux and Scandinavia. Most significantly has been the opportunity presented by OIA to go to ISPO Beijing which was a very successful show.

With a heritage going back to the mid 60’s OMM has always been a part of the UK outdoor scene. Annually, the location of the event is great cause of debate. This year it will be in “North of England”. This could be the Lakes, Pennines, Cheviots or North York Moors. OMM product sales have had double digit growth year on year for the past two years and 25% growth is predicted for 2012.

The opportunity presented by the OIA under the new leadership provided by Andrew Denton for attending ISPO Beijing may change all that. The reaction from the visitors to the Beijing show was fantastic. A large order for packs before the show officially opened proved to be a good omen. Matt Williams, Export Sales Director, said.

“The atmosphere on the OMM booth was great. OMM saw the opportunity for good sales into Asia and the Asian retailers responded positively. If the orders continue to come in at the current rate we could double OMM’s turnover this year. With Andrew and his team’s hard work, OIA have more than justified their role in supporting the UK outdoor industry and I hope that more retailers and suppliers join our trade association so that we can become an ever increasing support to our members.”

The ISPO show in Munich also saw the launch of OMM into France, Germany, Benelux and Scandinavia.

Development for the brand has also come with new events. OMM in the UK is now joined by the French OMM. This has been run by a very dedicated team in France for a number of years and is now promoted through the OMM website. This month we have also seen the launch of the Icelandic OMM run by Dan Annanadale and the rebranding of the Danish Extrem Maraton to OMM DK.

OMM will continue to be a niche brand selling through specialist retailers where the emphasis is on performance.
