Summer 2012 Rewoolution Raid In Bergamo
Press Release / 02.07.2012
On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July, Bergamo will host the first leg of the Summer 2012 Rewoolution Raid, a series of multidisciplinary outdoor events for experiencing sports and nature in a completely new way.
The participating teams, made up by three people, will face off in orienteering challenges to include different disciplines: mountain biking, trail running, abseiling, zip wire and climbing.
Two types of race courses will be offered for this Rewoolution Raid event, Pro and Amateur, distinguished by their degree of difficulty and number of kilometres.
The challenge for the more tenacious teams will depart from the lovely location of San Pellegrino to head towards Bergamo; the Amateur teams will leave from the La Fara Base Camp in the Upper City and make their way to the ‘Parco dei Colli’ park. All teams are obligated to stay at the base camp on the night of Saturday the 21st, in a tent provided by the organizers, then start out on Sunday the 22nd to tackle even more adventurous challenges.
A children’s activity area will be set up in the Base Camp. Youngsters between the ages of 6 and 12 can take part in mountain biking, trail running and orienteering challenges.
The Summer 2012 Rewoolution Raid will be giving away a coveted prize: a trip to New Zealand, which the teams participating in both summer events (Bergamo 21-22 July, Nago-Torbole 22-23 September) will be vying for. The team with the best overall score, and a randomly selected one, will embark on a discovery of the world of the antipodes, and Merino wool, thanks to Rewoolution and ZQ.
