Florida Coast to Coast
23.01.2005
Adventurous Concepts have announced this year\'s Florida Coast to Coast Adventure Race (Florida C2C), and it will take racers through some of Florida\'s most stunning landscapes. Participants will experience the serene beaches of the Gulf Coast, the wildness of the Everglades, and the beauty of the majestic Keys. The race will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30, 2005, starting in the Sarasota area and culminating somewhere in the Keys. The 3-day race will cover over 300 miles with the top five elite teams vying for a $15,000 cash purse.
The racecourse has been completely revamped to showcase some of Florida\'s unique natural attractions. Competitors will run, trek, ocean & river kayak, bike, and canoe through swamps, grasslands, mangroves, pinelands, hardwood hammocks, oak meadows, spring fed lakes where alligators, crocodiles, dolphins, snakes, black bear and numerous species of birds reside.
The Everglades National Park is the largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the United States and has been designated an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site and a Wetland of International Importance. It’s surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, and the islands extend from South Eastern Florida near Miami to Key West. They boast some of the best diving in the world and are great place for post race relaxation.
The race is open to solo racers, pairs and teams, and is supported, so anyone entering needs to find some back-up. Registration will open on January 26th, when full race details will be available on the Adventurous Concepts web site.
