Celtman! Off-Road Tri Wins British Triathlon’s Event Of The Year 2012

The CELTMAN! Extreme Scottish Triathlon, won the Best Event of 2012 at the coveted Annual British Triathlon (Federation) Awards, on Saturday 17 November, at the National Motorcycle Museum in the West Midlands.
The inaugural Celtman! was staged on 22 June 2012 and centred around Shieldaig in the stunning Torridon mountains in Wester Ross in the Highlands of Scotland. In the spirit of the World’s finest extreme triathlons Celtman! encompassed a 3.8km sea Loch swim in Loch Shieldaig, an arduous 202km bike ride on incredible Highland roads with 2000 metres of climb and a 42km run, mostly off-road and over two Munros.
125 athletes took part in one of the toughest off road triathlons in Europe, with 40% of competitors travelling to Scotland from outside the UK. Alex Glasgow (Nevis Cycles RT/TORQ Fitness) was first past the finish line in an impressive 12:09:48 and Susanne Buckenlei (FS TSG 08 Roth Triathlon) from Germany was the first female finisher in 13:55:33.

The second edition of the Celtman! Extreme Scottish Triathlon will take place on 6 July 2013 in Wester Ross, Scotland. The ballot for the 2013 race has closed.
