Godzone And Ecomotion/Pro Announce Expedition Adventure Racing Partnership

Two of the largest international adventure expedition races have joined forces to encourage global participation in overseas events. Orion Health GODZone from New Zealand and Ecomotion/Pro in Brazil have today launched a new partnership which will see participating teams given the chance to explore a new country and continent.
The concept is simple. Any team which completes the Full Course at GODZone in March will enter the prize draw for a free entry at Ecomotion/Pro in August. In turn, any team which completes the Full Course at Ecomotion/Pro in August will have the chance to win a free entry to GODZone in 2014. The draw will be completed on the evening of each events prize giving.
Orion Health GODZone Co-Director Warren Bates says it’s a great opportunity for teams to experience racing overseas. “Expedition racing has its roots in exploring new environments and cultures. Most competitors at Ecomotion/Pro and GODZone are home grown and few have had the chance to take on the challenge of racing on a new continent. This will be an exciting opportunity for a couple of teams.”
Ecomotion/Pro Co-Director Silvia (Shubi) Guimarães agrees the new partnership will create an opportunity for Brazilian adventure racers to compete in the birthplace of adventure racing while further developing the culture in Brazil.
With Ecomotion/Pro as the longest established expedition event and New Zealand seen as the home of expedition racing, he says it’s a logical tie up.
“Ask most international competitors where they would most like to race and New Zealand and Brasil are normally right at the top of the list. It would be a pretty amazing opportunity to complete GODZone and then take a trip to Brazil for Ecomotion/Pro just a few months later. In expedition racing it doesn’t get any bigger or better than that.”
The competition draw is only open to those teams who complete the Full Course in each events allotted time allowed. Traditionally such rewards go to the winners of the events but the organisers at Ecomotion and GODZone are keen to reward all participants with the chance to race overseas.
(Note: any team which has already qualified for a free entry to Costa Rica will be excluded from the draw).
