Quest welcome Blue Eskimo refugees
Rob / 28.03.2002
Quest have put an announcement on their web site saying they have a few places left in their next race and can give anyone left out of pocket by Blue Eskimo going into receivership a ‘substantial discount’. They’ve tried contacting Blue Eskimo to sort something out, but had no response. So, if you were one those who lost out, and want to grab one of the remaining places, give them a ring.
The race, which takes place in Devon over the weekend of April 13/14th, is the only 2 day race in the Quest calendar and will be the first ever British Championship Qualifier. This means there are places in the Championship final up for grabs, and as they’ve attracted a wider range of sponsors for this race there are more prizes on offer too.
There’s more. They are also offering vets and women’s teams entry for £35 per person to fill the remaining places (normally £57.50) and are at pains to point out that though they are new to the adventure racing scene they are an established company. It seems a few people have been asking how safe their entry money is with them! A fair question after what happened with Blue Eskimo.
The statement says the company has trading successfully for 5 years, delivering training and team building to blue-chip companies and adds they will take cheque payment for 40% of the entry fee, with the rest payable on the day. The most secure payment method is via credit card though, and at the moment they are the only UK race with an on-line entry and payment option.
You can read the statement on their web site here.
We’ll bring you a preview of the race soon and let you know who the first teams to qualify for the British Championship final are when the race is over.
