Soar With the Eagles

A new obstacle race has challenged avid runners and beginners alike to soar with the eagles in an ultimate test of perseverance, endurance, and spirit.

The first annual Eagle Cove Quest will be held on March 23, 2013 at the 2,400 acre Lawhorn Scouting Base operated by the Boy Scouts of America’s Flint River Council in Molena, Ga.

Sponsored by Cross Fit Newnan, the first annual obstacle race will feature an assortment of challenges including wall climbs, spear throws, and mud pits designed to challenge the most rugged athletes, while providing beginners with a fun-filled experience.

“We’re excited to work with Cross Fit Newnan and bring this exciting race to the community,” said Vanessa Mottley, Executive Director of Promise Place, the organization hosting the race. “Our goal is to provide a family event that can become a mainstay on calendars for years to come.”

The obstacle race encourages competitors of all skill levels and experience to “Conquer the Cove” by offering events geared towards all skill levels.

In addition to the main event, there will also be an Eagle Adventure Run Family Course featuring scaled down versions of the obstacles in the main event that allows chaperones and parents to complete the course alongside their children.

But the obstacle adventure race isn’t forgetting about the competitive racers either. Their Challenger Mode will allow up to 100 racers the opportunity to compete against each other for the right to be crowned victor.

Proceeds from race entries and merchandise are tax deductible and will benefit Promise Place, a 501(c)3 organization that assists victims of domestic violence in the Fayette, Spalding, Pike, and Upson counties.

“Whether you’re a novice looking for an excuse to dive into mud pits or an experienced pro looking for the ultimate challenge, the Eagle Cove Quest will be an event that will provide fun for every family member,” said Mottley.
