On the occasion of the COMPRESSPORT International Convention in the Canary island of Tenerife, the COMPRESSPORT EVEREST TRAIL RACE 2013 has been presented.
The race, now in its third edition, consolidates its worldwide presence counting so far with representatives in the U.S., Great Britain, South Africa, New Zealand, Italy, Germany and Mexico.
The organization wish is to make registrations easier for those runners and accompanying persons who are not from the organizing country (Spain). In brief it will be possible to know the contact details of all representatives in the race website www.everesttrailrace.com as well as the addition of new countries representatives who request so.
The race will be held from 3 to 15 November in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal, as in the two previous editions, with the powerful presence of mountain giants. Everest, Lothse, Ama Dablan and a large number of Himalayan emblematic peaks will again witness the passage of runners, adventure lovers, who accept the challenge of this unique mountain race. More than 160 km and nearly 29,000 m of climbing, positive and negative, planned for this 2013 edition are waiting for them.
The organization plans to make some changes in this year’s edition. The race will be even more adventurous, making some modifications on the original route, that will bring the runners to most inhospitable and even less traveled areas. Also organization is preparing some surprises that will unravel as the date approaches.
The number of participants for the upcoming 2013 edition is limited to 100 runners (males and females), who should pass the technical and medical checks established by the organization in order be allowed to participate.
This race of technical self-sufficiency has a high component of adventure and although the organization provides participants food and drink, offers medical aids and equipped camps, etc., it demands an excellent preparation, both physical and mental, to face the tough stages of this race, described by many participants from previous editions, as the toughest in the world, as far as regards stage races.
Again cutting times will be broad in order to open the race to walkers with good fitness and to elite athletes, as happened in the last edition, that we had the participation of Agustí Roc triple world champion and Núria Picas, the current world champion.
Registration is open from March 1 and will close on July 31, but given the pace of registrations received so far, which now exceed 30% of the maximum number of runners for this year, it is expected not to reach the deadline.
