Press Release / 02.08.2013
The 37th running of the Hout Bay Trail Challenge took place on Saturday, 27 July 2013. This challenging event comprises a trail run of approximately 36-40km aimed at both individual competitors and team runners along a beautiful, yet challenging, circular loop within the scenic Hout Bay peaks. It is rated as one of the toughest 'kilometre-for-kilometre' runs in the world, encapsulating some of the most stunning scenery in the Western Cape.
AJ Calitz and Team Salomon's Landie Greyling took the line in a time of 04:00:21. The ladies winner and new record holder was Stevie Kremer (USA) in a time of 04:34:55. Stevie, one of the world's best trail runners, ran the race after being in the country for less than 48 hours and placed an unbelievable 9th overall, beating some top local male runners in the process.
