This Year's Aveyron Adventure Race Called Off

The Aveyron Adventure Race, which has been on the French calendar, and is popular with many top French teams, is taking a break for 2014 and will be back in 2015. 

A date had been set for this year, but the organizers have now released the following statement explaining their decision;

Absolu Raid will not be able to organize the Aveyron Adventure Race 2014.

It is with regret that the organizing committee, Absolu Raid, has decided not to organize the 2014 edition of this popular adventure race in France.

The lack of availability of those in charge of the event and the withdrawal of some major sponsors means that we are unable to ensure the smooth running of this adventure race this year.

We prefer working more serenely on the 2015 edition that, we expect, will remain part of the ARES (Adventure Racing European Series) with a 50 hours format. It will be as rich in landscapes as the previous editions, with an ever-increasing emphasis on orientation.

We apologize to all teams who have trusted us during the previous editions and who where rejoicing to come back to our beautiful lands in the Aveyron region of France.

But reason prevails over passion.
