Sea 2 Sea AR | Pangea Adventure Racing
12 Year Old Hunter Leininger Completes 3 Day Race
News Release / 26.02.2014

Hunter Leininger (age 12) has set a new World Record for the youngest athlete to complete a 3-day Expedition Race. (The past World record holder is 14 year old racer Heidilee Mohammad of Malaysia, who set the record during the Sabah Race in Asia.)
Hunter finished the Pangea Sea to Sea race on February 16th after 65:18 hours and traveling over 250 biking, running, climbing and canoeing with his father Jeff.
Here is what he had to say after the race;
"Wow, what a ride. After months of training, hard work, pressure and some pain the race finally over.
As I look back now after hours of recovery sleep some of the best moments for me was the start after sitting on the bus for hours, nighttime single track, Dunkin Donuts open at 4am on the first very cold night, trekking through Ocala National Forest, fast open road biking, paddling down the clear waters of Silver Springs, Bryan's BBQ for dinner on the last night and the run down the beach to the finish.
There were very few lows for me outside of the normal on this length of race like sore back and feet.
The pressure from all the news, friends and family was a little nerve racking, but I forgot all about that once I went into race mode.
I not only wanted to finish the race, but I wanted to place well. We set a goal before the race to beat half the teams and push as hard as we could without breaking. We finished 11th place out of 24 adult teams and now my goal is to win."
Hunter's next big race will be the Atomic 30 hour in Blueridge, GA which is the USARA 24 Hour Nationals.
