World Class Entry for The Bull of Africa
Lisa de Speville / 10.03.2005
Set in the arid Richtersveld region in the Northern Cape Province, South Africa\'s premier expedition race is attracting entries from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand ...South Africa first captured the AR community\'s attention in 2002 when Team Mazda made their incredible \'dark horse\' 4th place at Eco Challenge Fiji. Then Eco Challenge\'s scouting team came over to review South Africa as a prospective event venue, drawing more interest from foreign teams. More recently Team Cyanosis placed 4th at the Arctic Team Challenge (2004) in Greenland and Team Mazda placed 5th at the AR World Champs in Newfoundland. Even though a handful of South African teams have left home soil to race in distant lands, we\'ve had few visitors our beautiful country ...
We\'re proud to welcome the 14 foreign teams already registered (and those still deciding whether they\'ll be able to make it), to South Africa at the end of June for the 2005 Bull of Africa event. A 500km AR World Championship qualifying event, The Bull will see international teams and South Africa\'s best racing across the barren and desolate land of the Richtersveld region in the Northern Cape Province.
A mountainous desert, the Richtersveld\'s boulder-strewn valleys and deep ravines will make navigation challenging and the trekking sections gruelling.
