Great Ocean Road Adventure Race

Well you\'re about to run out of excuses for delaying your visit, because Australia is about to play host to the most exciting stage-format Adventure Race ever seen in this part of the world. It\'s scheduled to rock Australia’s Southern Coastline in April 2006, and will take you on a guided tour of some of Australia\'s most spectacular coastal landscapes.

Forty of the world\'s best adventure racing teams will battle it out over 350km (4 days) and disciplines include ocean paddling, coasteering, running, swimming, mountain biking and abseiling.

This is no ordinary adventure race. The course has been designed by a racer (me) to be a racer\'s course. The legs are challenging (marked course, no sleep deprivation), no running or mountain-biking on sealed surfaces, the kayaks are real (no inflatable toys in this race!), there are some Australian-themed mystery challenges to negotiate, with a total race time each day of 7-10 hours.

The total prize purse is $160,000 and pays to 10th. From the 40 starters 10 teams will be eliminated from the running for the prize money each day. Only the toughest will survive!

In a made-for-TV format, with the shows narrated by Phil Liggett, the Great Ocean Road Adventure Race will be the Great Battle Down Under. Included in the entry fee are all airport transfers, accommodation, meals, kayaks and a fully supported event!

Still not convinced! Go have a surf on the website at Rapid Ascent and then tell me it\'s not for you?
