News Release / 14.02.2015

On Friday March 20th at 10pm the Krkonossky Survival Challenge will start. (The name means Survival on Giant mountains of the Czech Republic).
The event is a race for teams of three which ends the next day at 6pm. The racers will be taken by buses from the Kara mountain hut (where the finish line is) to a point close to a WW2 fortress.
There (after about an hour of prologue racing) the teams will run through a few hundred meters of underground tunnels below the fortress. And after short night orienteering run they can choose from among 25 CP's in a score orienteering event. There will be additional disciplines like timed running uphill, rope activity or river crossing and a lot of travel through tough terrain.
Teams can move on cross country skis, snowshoes or on running shoes. It's up to them which they choose and shortly before the race organizers will write all the racers about snow conditions on the mountains.
The starting list (165 persons) is already full but there are still a few places available for foreign teams. If you're interested just contact the race via their website at http://krkonosskysurvival.cz/?lang=en#menu
This is in both Czech and English and has photo galleries from the last 3 years of the race.
