Who Should Represent Australia in the Tri Nations Trophy?

News Release / 06.08.2015See All Event Posts Follow Event

The Australian public is invited to vote on who should represent Australia in the Tri Nations Trophy at the Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Fest in November 2015.

The Tri Nations Trophy is a competition between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and is held as part of the main Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Race – the world’s biggest adventure race.

Each nation has three designated competitors (2 male and 1 female), all of whom compete as individuals, and the nation with the lowest cumulative team time is the winner! It’s now time to choose the Australian team.

Eager for selection for the female position in the team are three fierce competitors from Victoria: Naantali Marshall and sisters Bernadette and Elizabeth Dornom.

All have demonstrated prowess within the Australian adventure racing scene. Naantali Marshall is the current Australasian Multisport Champion and Elizabeth Dornom won the women’s category in the Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Race last year.

“I relish the opportunity to defend my title and the added incentive of racing for the country’s pride would help me to dig deep and put in that extra effort to get the very best out of myself. Obviously representing Australia is a huge honour and racing as part of the Australian team adds a fantastic dimension to an individual adventure race,” said Elizabeth Dornom.

Three men are vying for the two male positions on the team: Nathan Jones from Perth, Jarad Kohlar from Melbourne and Mark Padgett from Launceston. Kohlar was a member of the winning Australian team last year.

“I had the honour of representing my country last year and we took out first place, and would welcome the opportunity to defend the trophy again this year,” said Kohlar.

Local athlete Nathan Jones says representing Australia in adventure racing would be a dream come true.

“To be able to represent and perform to the best of my ability for my country would be an honour and one I will hold close to my heart for the rest of my life,” said Jones.

Each athlete has submitted a brief bio, including their recent race results, and now it’s over to you to decide! To vote on who you think should represent Australia in the Tri Nations Trophy complete this quick survey: VOTE NOW. Voting will close at 12pm (AEST) on Monday 17 August 2015.

Who will they be up against? Only some of the best multisport athletes from New Zealand and South Africa! Representing New Zealand will be Sam Clark, Hayden Wilde and Simone Maier, who were selected due to their high results at the recent 3D Rotorua Multisport Festival in New Zealand. The South African team is yet to be announced.
