Sweatshop Series Back From Trailplus
Rob Howard / 06.04.2005
TrailPlus have now announced the details of their 2005 Sweatshop Adventure Race Series. The one-day 'team of three' format remains in place for the series, which kicks off on Sunday 3rd July at Minley Manor, near Camberley in Surrey. This is followed by two visits to Longmoor Camp in Hampshire on Sunday 2nd October and Sunday 4th December, but the courses for the two races will be different.Sweatshop are back as the series' main sponsors, with support from Science in Sport and all entrants will again be encouraged to consider using their participation to help Survival International, a charity which supports tribal peoples and their human rights. A headline addition for this year will be the involvement of Sleepmonsters as media partners for the series for the first time.
Commenting on the series TrailPlus's Paul Magner said: "We were delighted with a record 122 team entry for last year's final event that took place in November so we think a December option will be popular - we'll certainly have a seasonal feel to the race!"
“The encouraging trend for us as organisers, but also adventure racing as a whole is that the style, location and content of our events (trail running, mtb, canoeing and special challenges) seems to be attracting an ongoing stream of both first timers and repeat participants. Our involvement with SleepMonsters should ensure that those who are new to the sport will see, hear and read about the full range of exciting adventure racing experiences out there."
You can find out more about Trailplus, who also run a series of 4 ‘Fast and Light’ adventure training weekends, at www.trailplus.com. Entry to the Sweatshop Adventure Races costs £120 per team of 3, and entries are open now. (There is an downloadable entry form available on the website.)
