Team Thule Lead at the Wuhan Outdoor Quest

Martin Flinta (Team Thule Adventure) / 09.11.2015

Team Thule Adventure report from the 3 hour long Wulong Outdoor Quest in China.

It was a cool 4 degrees in the air and there was a break between the showers when the race started with a 15 km Mtb. We take the lead at the start but are closely followed by the Australian/French team RAW Adventure. We succeed, however, after a while in getting a gap on one of the climbs and may have a minute when the running takes over, which we maybe extend until the paddling starts 6km later.

In the middle of the 15km-long paddling, two of us jumar up to a bridge and then abseil down the other side right down the kayaks again.  It went fine for us. When the addling ends and we go out on the GPS orientation, we have the RAW team just 100m behind us, they did not care entering the coordinates in the GPS and just followed us.

The first two checkpoints we hit, then we recognized that we input the fourth number wrong on the GPS for CP3 and this we notice when we cross a big road 1km in the wrong direction. We corrected the mistake and reached CP3 just seconds before the NZ team New World and Finnish team Halti Adventure.

Then everything goes well and managed to win the first leg 3 seconds before the Raw Team and 3 mins before New World and Team Halti.

You can find out more about their progress on the team Facebook page.
